SoSS Y is for Yuck, part deux

Wow. I have to thank the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers for the Y is for Yuck challenge, which I'm entering this post for. I made a card out of one piece of yuck paper and entered it into the challenge. But in looking for that particular piece, I found more. Much more. So much more that I had to make a New Years Resolution to eliminate all paper from my stash(es) I don't like or love. If it isn't suitable for an envelope, it's going into a box for Goodwill. Life is too short for yucky paper (I may have to start on ribbons, too!). So here is just a sampling of shitey paper-

EWWWWWW! Pukey. Awful. Terrible.

So I have to thank the Sisterhood for forcing a purge-it's a good thing, right? Who'd want something made out of this stuff! And even though I'll suffer terrible embarrassment from posting this, I'll manage somehow. It did force me into a late morning cocktail...

SoSS Y is for Yuck challenge

I knew I could do this. I have a stack of paper that is in my OMGWDIBT pile (oh my gosh, why did I buy that?).  Since I need more birthday cards, I challenge myself to make something of this particular piece of paper. Here it is -

If it's ugly, glam it up! I don't know who made the bg paper, but the solid burgundy is from Jo-Anns and the foil is from a paper pack from Wal-Mart. The sentiment is a die from My Craft Spot, and the presents are cut with my Cricut Celebrations cartridges.

I'm actually kinda happy with how it turned out-I really didn't expect it! I'm entering this at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Y is for Yuck Challenge.

JAS Christmas using Red, Green, Silver Gold , Blue

At JAS the challenge is to make a Christmas themed project using holiday colors-
reds, blues, greens, gold, & silver. Here is my project-

This was an illustration for a fabric door panel. After I made the panel, I kept it thinking I could do something with it. So I sewed around the frame and fringed it, and attached it to the card. I added gold and silver Stickles to add extra sparkle.

I really like how it turned out!

JAS Challenge Die Cut Inlay

This week at Just A Scrappin', we are challenged to do a die cut inlay-and here is my project-

I don't have any steel word dies (yet), so I used my Cricut Artiste cartridge to cut the "thanks" out of two coordinating papers. I had no problem inserting the cuts into the opposite papers! So here's a list of ingredients I used to make these cards-
  1. Coordination Brights (chevron purple), DJ Inkers (white dots), Creative Memories lavender cardstock.
  2. Artiste flowers.
  3. American Crafts sheer lavender ribbon.
I'm debating on adding an olivey green leaves to both cards, so I may cut one and see how it looks.

Kitty Bee Fall Colors Challenge

The new challenge at Kitty Bee Designs is Fall Colors. The winner of this challenge will receive 3 images of the winner’s choice from any of the 3 creators (Reece's Scrap Pieces, Cootsy Creations, and Stitchy Stamps) up to a value of $10!

Here is my project-

I used the image RSP Sunflower (Reeces Scrap Pieces) from Stitchy Bear Stamps. I like the colored image they provided so well that I fussy cut it and pop dotted it onto a rusty red from Bazzill (Die Cut with Spellbinders Labels Nine, inked edges with brown ink). The sunflower paper is from Best Creations, the beige is Bazzill embossed with Cuttlebug folder leaves, and used brown enamel dots and household twine to finish it off.

I also made a more springtime colored card here-

This one I colored with my colored pencils. The paper I chose to compliment the image are so spring-like!

I like having Sentiment free cards around-you can use them for any occasion.

Thank you for joining me today, and make sure you enter out challenge at Kitty Bee Designs!

I would also like to enter this at Dazzling Diva Challenge Fall Colors.

JAS-Use it or lose it

At Just A Scrappin- the Design Team Challenge is to use a product that you have bought but never used. Here is my project-

The product I used is the soft gel (gloss) from Golden. I even used a stencil I had never used.

This was actually so easy. I sprayed the back of my stencil with repositionable Stencil Spray, then mixed Golden's red acrylic paint with the soft gel gloss. I used just a dab of gel, and a couple of drops of paint, and mixed with a palette knife. On a plain white piece of cardstock I put my stencil down, and really pressed down so the goop wouldn't seep under the edges. I had enough goop to make two panels. Cleanup was easy, just soap and water. After the panels dried, I mounted them onto a mat of red cardstock. The center image is an old Stampin' Up stamp of a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air convertible done with red Studio G ink and clear embossing powder. The sentiment is an old rub-on I still had around, along with the black enamel dot.

I think I'm going to send this to my brother for his birthday-after all, what guy doesn't like getting a classic car for his birthday?

JAS-Color an Image with Markers

At JAS this week, we are challenge to color an image with markers, so I chose to color an older PSX stamp-

I chose to color this image with my Spectrum Noir pens in purple. I went through several stacks of papers before finding this in a DCWV Cherry Limeade pack. I love damask! A purple ribbon and bow top off this cards.

I'm making more and more sentiment-less cards. I can make this a birthday, hello card, get well soon, etc! I like to make the cards more user friendly if I give them away, too!

Thanks for joining me this week!

Kitty Bee Design Team Announcement!

I am happy and excited to announce that I have been chosen to be a part of the Kitty Bee Design Team for Aloha Friday Challenges! For challenge #31 the theme is Back to School, and the prize to one lucky participant is from 2Cute Ink!

Here is my project-

This was made with 2Cute Inks backpackpup digi. I used regular Artist's Loft pencils from Michaels to color my image, and a few Spectrum Noirs. I then used my Spellbinders Labels #9 to cut the image out, after I fussy cut the top. The background is Best Creations Robot #6 paper, matted with Wausau Navy Shimmer paper. The sentiment is computer generated with a free internet font called Rogue.

This will make a great birthday card for any of my nephews!

Edited to Add-have you ever messed up on a challenge? The theme is back to school, not birthdays! My bad!

Moxie Fab World

Me again! The Moxie Fab World is inspired by Foxes, and here is my project-

I had a devil of a time with this card! I finally chose My Minds Eye Kraft Christmas stack paper, Wausau shimmer paper in Green (band embossed with Anna Griffiths Paper Snowflakes embossing strip), Coordinations Kraft paper, Recollections green pearls, and Unity Stamps Christmas Foxes in Brown ink.

I still don't know if it needs something else, but I like the CAS-ness(?!) of it. I tried for simple and elegant, but I don't know if I would go that far, lol.

What do you think?

I'm also entering this at Unity's Friends with Flair Challenge.

Moxie Fab World Fabulous Friday challenge

Hi! At Moxie Fab World the challenge is to be inspired by this picture-

And here is my project-

I was inspired by the bark of the pencils for the woodgrain, and I figured if you looked at the pencils all together from the top, it would resemble the dotted paper!

I used Unity Stamps (Boots, class and a lil sass), Memento ink, and colored pencils for the image.
The woodgrain paper is from DIY Crate Paper, the colored circle paper is from Studio Calico Snippets, and Bazzill dk. gold paper. I added regular household twine tied with scraps to resemble barbed wire-goes with the aged wood and the boots!

I hope you enjoyed this little card!

I'm also entering this at Unity Friends with Flair!

New Design Team Member

Hi! My name is Michelle from Just A Nutter Stamper, and I'm a new member of the Kitty Bee design team. Today is my DT Spotlight day! I love to pick adorable puppy images for my niece Anna as she is as big a dog lover as I am! Here is the cupcake pup I chose from the Etsy store-

This image was colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. I used Spellbinder dies to cut the image out, and used the Cuttlebug polka dot embossing folder on the white background paper. The teal cardstock is Coordination Brights, and scrap yellow and red complete the card.

This is my first project as part of the Kitty Bee Design Team, and I'm so excited to join such a talented group of people!

JAS Chalkboard Easel Card

At JAS this week, the challenge was to make a chalkboard easel card, and after many trips thru the internet, I was inspired to make this-

After cutting the easel and layering the brown embossed "wood" along the edges, I stamped this Unity Stamp with Versamark Ink and used white embossing powder for this sentiment. After using white chalk ink to "chalk" the board, I added Prima Roses to the corner and quilled a piece of chalk for the ledge!

I hope you enjoyed my card.

I'm  also entering this at Unity's Friends with Flair Challenge.

JAS Pop Up Challenge

This week at JAS, the challenge is Pop-Up Cards! I found this card on Artiste, cut with my Cricut-

What's cool about this card is you can decorate the outside any way you like! I used Wild Card for the "Just a Note" in scraps of brown and the interior orange, and flowers and rhinestones from my stash.

I would love to have a different pop up in the center-Happy Birthday-so I may have to play on Cricut Craft Room to see if I could make one!

  2. Cricut cartridges Create a Critter (monkey) and Create a Critter 2 (lion & elephant)

JAS Template challenge

The challenge at JAS this week is to use your favorite template. I love my Cricut, so anything you make with a Cricut is a template! This is a card I made using elements from a scrap swap of images, papers, and sentiments!

Sometimes when you do a swap, you don't know what stamps were used from what company, or paper, etc. I do know that the owl is from Create a Critter 2 (made by my DT sister Emily!)  I cut the branch from a Spellbinders die, and hand cut the tree trunk from the brown patterned paper. I thought hanging the sentiment with the twine she provided would be a cute touch.

Thanks for looking!

JAS Challenge Use Silver Notations

At JAS this week, the challenge is to use silver notations, so this is what I came up with-

At the end of August it will be 20 years of married bliss, and I made this card for my wonderful husband. Here is a list of ingredients-

  1. Card is made out of DCWV black & white glitter alphabet stack cardstock.
  2. Lettering is cut using Lyrical Letters Cricut cartridge out of teal blue foil paper (Colorbok, Wal-Mart)
  3. Silver notations are from same cartridage, silver Wausau shimmer paper.
  4. Inside sentiment copied from internet.
I hope you enjoyed this card!

JAS Anniversary and/or Wedding Challenge

At JAS the challenge is to make a Wedding or Anniversary project, and here is mine-

The overlay die cut is from Sizzix, called Iron Gate and cut from Wausau Gold Shimmer paper. The background is a black linen from DCVW Black Currant stack. I wanted to amp it up a bit, so I sprayed gold glitter from Kryon on the background paper and was so pleased with the result that I sprayed the Prima Roses with the gold glitter too! After attaching everything to the card I added black pearls along the sentiment from the Cricut stamp set Cherish, which was embossed in black Zing powder.

I wanted it to be elegant, and I might have accomplished it.

Thanks for looking!

This had been entered at Die Cuttin' Diva's a couple of weeks ago (I wish challenges and my projects for JAS would coincide once in a while) ETA-Chosen as a Challenge Showcase Pick at Die Cuttin' Divas!

JAS Kraft, Black & White Challenge

At JAS the challenge was to make a project with Kraft, Black & White. I wanted to make a special birthday card for a friend of mine, so I found my Unity Happy Birthday stamp and went to work! I also entered this at Unity's Friends with Flair last week, so I've updated this post to reflect that.

After I stamped and fussy cut the sentiment I added small punched black flowers to the banner on the sentiment, along with rhinestone centers. The flowers were assembled using flowers from my stash. The quatrefoil background was cut with my Cricut, along with the ribbon insert border.

Thanks for looking!
